Even with all the heartbreak from this weekend's Chargers game(and last weekend's!), my mostly Charger fantasy football team managed to squeak by and beat my opponent anyways. Unlike Sher, I was only 15 minutes late for my draft and I got pretty decent picks. Rivers is my quarterback, I have LT, Gates, Sproles, Jackson, Chambers and the Chargers Defense. Bye week will be ugly though, but I also couldn't choose players I hated or who were on rival teams even if they were good.
I also got a long term teaching gig that puts me back at my school for the next 2 months. And I have an interview on Thursday for a Program Coordinator position with the New Teacher Project Project which recruits and trains new teachers then places them in high need schools.
Things are definitely looking up =)
I will always love the Padres and the Chargers. The Padres had all kinds of injuries and troubles this year so although they are dead last in the NL West, I'm kind of disappointed, but ready for next season since we have a lot of strong young rookies and minor leaguers.
But I feel like my heart has already been broken a few times by the Chargers and there have only been TWO games. I love that they are unpredictable. Last year when we started out 1-3 and then ended up in the AFC Championship game, that was unbelievable. We were predicted to go to the Super Bowl this year and we have had two horrible, last minute ridiculous games. They were so painful that I don't think I can watch any more sports or sports news this week. I don't want to hear what they have to say. I don't want to see highlights. I still want to have hope for next Monday and I don't want any know-it-all sports analysts to say how disappointed they were in us. And when I say us, I mean it like I was out there blocking stupid Champ Bailey and trying to swat down Cutler's throws. We were robbed on two big calls that could have won us the game. We had a million Broncos fans breathing down our necks and a huge deficit that we managed to come back from with LT on the side. And once again, in the last few minutes, it all shattered.
Ouch. This season is going to be tough. That game sucked my energy out for the rest of the day. I guess I'll go lie in bed and ignore ESPN and Fox Sports some more =/
